When do I find out the time I need to show up for my surgery?

The surgery scheduling center will give you a call the evening before to let you know what time you need to show up for your surgery.

How much time will it take me to recover after surgery and how much time do I need to take off work?

For tonsil surgeries: 7-10 days
For sinus surgeries: 3-7 days
For thyroid surgeries: 10 days
For ActiveFX: 4-5 days
For DeepFX: 5-7 days.

Do I need to bring my child to his/her preop appointment?

Yes

Does Dr. Shin do any procedures during my first consultation?

The only time Dr. Shin does any procedure during the initial consultation is patients with hearing loss will be set up for an audiometry appointment.

Do I get a reminder call?

Yes, we call the day beforehand to confirm your appointment. If you have a Monday appointment, our receptionist will call the Friday before your appointment to confirm your appointment. Please make sure your information is updated with us so we can reach you.

Can I refer myself?

No, we are no longer accepting self-referrals for ENT consultations. You will need a referral from your primary care physician.

How long do office visits take?

First consultations take approximately 30 minutes. Follow up visits take approximately 15 minutes. Procedures can take anywhere from 15-30 minutes long, depending on the procedure.

Insurance

What kind of insurance does Dr. Shin take at his office?

Dr. Shin takes most insurance, but please check with your insurance provider if we are a provider in your network.

Are surgeries permanent, like a face lift?

Yes, but the surgery doesn’t stop the aging process from that point on.

How long does it take for Latisse to take effect until I see results? After I stop using Latisse what happens to my eyelashes? Will they fall out?

Latisse users have noticed longer lashes at 4 weeks and have seen full results at 16 weeks. When not using Latisse, your eyelashes will take several weeks to months to return to their natural and original state.
